Dear sea friends: I have some questions to ask; I work on chimney construction, and generally we build according to blueprints or national standard drawings; in other words, the height and inner diameter of the chimney are already determined, so construction can proceed directly. But now a friend wants to install 2 35-ton boilers – what height and diameter should the chimney have in that case? Or, for boilers of roughly the same size, what size chimney is used?
From a design perspective and based on personal opinions, I would like an explanation as to what type of boiler the 35t boiler is: a chain grate boiler, a pulverized coal boiler, or some other type? Different furnace types result in different amounts of flue gas! The size of the chimneys is different too! Local environmental regulations vary, as do the conditions of surrounding buildings and regional factors; therefore, it is impossible to determine the height of the chimney. It’s just my personal opinion; I’m seeking answers from professionals.

Let me share my opinion: for a 35t boiler, this is likely related to the type of boiler, the kind of fuel used, as well as the processing capacity of the exhaust gas purification systems. I think it’s necessary to calculate the amount of exhaust gas in order to carry out a detailed design; no conclusion can be drawn at this point. As for the height issue, as the experts mentioned earlier, it seems to be related to the relative height of the location where the chimney will be installed.
In addition to the factors mentioned on the 2nd and 3rd floors, it is also related to the choice of desulfurization and denitration methods; if low-nitrogen emission technologies are used, the chimney can even be eliminated and combined with the desulfurization tower.

The chimney needs to be installed! But nowadays, many desulfurization units and chimneys are integrated! It results in a chimney at the top of the tower. For a small boiler like yours, a 35t chain furnace would likely have a flue gas volume of around 100,000 cubic meters, while a coal powder furnace would have around 50,000 cubic meters. The size of the chimney can be calculated accordingly. If I were to design the desulfurization system, I would definitely integrate the chimney into the overall design to save on costs...
