The push-type safety device’s protective function is to, during the downward movement of the slider, use mechanical means – via a push plate or other type of device – to push away human body parts (mainly hands) that are in the dangerous area, thereby achieving protection. A notable feature of this type of device is that the dangerous travel distance of the slider is synchronized with the protective function of the apparatus, without affecting productivity. Based on the direction of movement of the pusher, they can be classified into left-right swinging type, front-back pushing type, and lateral pushing type. The following uses a lateral push-out type as an example to illustrate its working principle. The slider is equipped with a pressure wheel; the push rod is fixedly hinged to the slider’s slide track, and a return spring is connected to one end of the push rod’s support. A pusher is installed at the end of the push rod, and the slider’s pressure wheel exerts force on the push rod’s support. When the slider moves downward, the pressure wheel rolls down on the push rod’s support, causing the push rod to move from left to right through the dangerous area. The pusher pushes the operator’s hand away, simultaneously stretching the spring. When the slider moves back upward, the pressure wheel moves upward, removing the pressure on the push rod; under the force of the return spring, the push rod returns to its original position. During this time, the operator can reach into the mold opening to carry out operations. The device shall meet the following safety technical requirements: First, a reliable protection range. This protection range is ensured by the swinging range of the push rod. The left-right swinging amplitude of the push rod should exceed the width of the mold, and the length of the rod, as well as its swinging amplitude or displacement, should be adjustable to meet various processing requirements. Second, it must not cause new harm. The side of the pusher that comes into contact with the hand should be made of soft material (such as rubber or soft plastic) to prevent the pusher from injuring the hand. Third, the swinging direction of the push rod is related to the operator. The direction in which the push rod is moved should be from right to left for right-handed people (facing the press); for left-handed people, it should be from left to right. Under normal circumstances, the normal operation speed is faster than that of the push rod; it is only occasionally that the pusher might push the hand.
