(2) Control combustibles. Eliminating any one of the three basic conditions for combustion, such as removing the heat source, can prevent a fire from occurring. If two of the conditions in the combustion prevention requirements are removed, it becomes more safe and reliable; for example, in the fire protection regulations for calcium carbide warehouses, various measures are typically taken to prevent sources of fire and the generation of the flammable gas acetylene. The main measures to control combustible materials include replacing them with flame-retardant or non-combustible materials, such as using cement instead of wood to build houses ; Reduce the concentration of flammable substances (flammable gases, vapors, and dusts) in the air; for example, by implementing general ventilation or local exhaust ventilation in workshops or warehouses, this prevents the accumulation of such substances and ensures that their concentrations do not exceed the maximum allowable levels ; Prevent the escape, leakage, or dripping of flammable materials; isolate and store separately those items that can interact to produce flammable gases, etc. (3) Isolate from air. If necessary, production can be carried out under vacuum conditions, or the equipment container can be filled with an inert gas for protection. After feeding, an acetylene generator of the calcium carbide type should be purged with the inert gas nitrogen ; Or replace it with an inert medium before performing maintenance welding or hot work on the fuel container ; Store in an air-free environment; for example, sodium is stored in kerosene, phosphorus in water, and carbon disulfide is stored under a water seal, etc. (4) Prevent the formation of new combustion conditions and stop the spread of the fire. Install flame arrestors, such as water-sealed flashback arrestors on acetylene generators, or flame arrestors between the cutting torch and hoses when performing underwater gas cutting; these devices can prevent flames from entering the acetylene tank or from spreading through the pipes in the event of a flashback. Install firewalls or fire doors in workshops or warehouses, or maintain fire separation distances between buildings, so that in the event of a fire, new conditions for combustion are not created, thereby preventing the fire from spreading.
