Is the electrical industry mainly focused on power generation?

I am new to the instrumentation industry; previously, my exposure to process instruments was mainly related to valves. The company has now introduced FLUKE products, and my manager has asked me to focus on process and electrical areas. But I don’t understand anything about electricity. Are there many thermal power plants and hydroelectric power stations? I also seek advice from fellow sailors.
In the field of electricity, there are tasks related to power generation and transmission, as well as power transformation and distribution. If your supervisor assigns you work in this area, it’s because they want to develop you into a well-rounded professional! Hehe!
