Under what circumstances are anchor sections permitted for buried long-distance pipelines? If an underground long-distance pipeline is very long, for example several kilometers or a dozen kilometers, and anchor sections are allowed, can the pipeline be buried directly in the ground without taking any measures to account for the effects of pipeline stress?
