The water resources assessment report for Zhejiang Energy’s coal-to-gas project in Zhundong has been approved by the Yellow River Water Resources Commission. Author/Source: Date: 2015-11-23 Clicks: 5 Recently, the water resources assessment report for Zhejiang Energy Group’s Xinjiang Zhundong Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from coal was approved by the Yellow River Water Resources Commission under the Ministry of Water Resources. The Zhejiang Energy Zhundong coal-to-natural gas project has an actual production capacity of 2.09 billion cubic meters per year of coal-to-natural gas. The plant is located in the Xiheshan mining area in the eastern part of the Zhundong Development Zone, covering an area of 351.77 hectares. The total planned investment is 13 billion yuan. The coal source is the Xiheshan open-pit coal mine in the Zhundong coalfield; the annual consumption of coal for production purposes is 8.06 million tons, while the annual demand for fresh water is 10.709 million cubic meters. This project undertakes demonstration tasks such as the development of China’s first combined process of \"pressurized fixed-bed slag gasification using crushed coal + pressurized gasification of pulverized coal in a fluidized bed,\" as well as the localization of large-scale air separation units. The project plan calls for the construction of the dedicated pipeline for coal-to-natural gas production in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Zhejiang to be completed simultaneously; this pipeline has currently been approved by the **National Development and Reform Commission. Implementing the clean conversion of coal is in line with the economic strategy of sustainable development; it helps to make full use of the region’s abundant coal resources, and brings about good economic, environmental, and social benefits. http://www.nmtech.com.cn/*nwen_mhg_xx.asp?id=173424
