As the title suggests, regarding self-reinforcing fittings, my understanding is that such fittings do not require the use of reinforcement rings for strengthening; in other words, they are fittings that are strong enough on their own or those that utilize fully forged components for reinforcement. Is this understanding correct?

When holes are made within 80% of the diameter at the center of cylinders, spherical shells, conical shells, and convex heads, no additional reinforcement is required provided that the following conditions are met. 1. The design pressure is less than or equal to 2.5 MPa. 2. The distance between the centers of two adjacent openings shall be not less than twice the sum of the diameters of the two openings. 3. The nominal outer diameter of the take over is less than or equal to 89 mm.
Self-reinforcement? Such a statement doesn’t seem to appear in the standards. Please provide the source so that forum members can discuss it.
Taking over reinforcement should refer to the reinforcement pipe. It is manufactured using thick-walled pipes or forgings.
The “self-reinforcement” mentioned by the original poster refers to the situation where no reinforcement is needed, and this is conditional; one can refer to the data in post 2. Using thick-walled pipes or forgings is essentially a form of reinforcement, only without the use of reinforcement rings.
It is actually a translation of “self reinforced nozzle” in the customer’s SPEC, that is, a self-reinforcing fitting. . .
I think \"reinforcement\" here doesn’t necessarily mean strengthening; it might rather imply \"enhancing\". It is still necessary to understand it in context as a whole; taking a few words out in isolation might lead to misunderstandings
