If there is water in the distillation column, when the temperature at the bottom of the column increases, will the water vapor remain at the bottom or move towards the top? The level gauge at the very bottom of the tower shows only gas, while the level plate in the middle indicates the presence of oil. The bottom pump is always emptying. Solve
Water vapor remains at the top of the tower. At startup, pure water is first circulated, cold oil is used to carry the water, and the temperature is increased gradually. There is excessive water at the bottom of the tower; when hot oil enters the tower, bumping occurs, which can cause the trays to be overturned.
The fractionation feed contains water, and all of this water is vaporized and carried to the top of the tower, causing the tower pressure to increase. In severe cases, it can cause tower collapse. During the cold oil transfer at startup, the bottom pump becomes evacuated, the pipeline contains water, or the filter screen gets clogged: P
Water vapor will definitely rise upward, but the level gauge at the bottom shows only gas. Could it be that the feed material contains water, causing the water at the bottom of the tower to keep boiling and thus leading to the pump at the bottom of the tower becoming empty?
Most of the water vaporizes at the top of the tower, while a small amount enters the pump along with the oil at the bottom of the tower; there it vaporizes and causes cavitation, leading to pump evacuation
