I’ve never understood why double-flange level gauges for liquid hydrocarbon tanks need to be equipped with heating in winter. If the temperature of the liquid hydrocarbon is high, it will vaporize; but if no heating is used in winter, the gauge definitely won’t function properly. Once heating is activated, everything works fine. Could someone please explain the reason behind this?
Both desulfurized liquefied gas and desulfurized alcoholized liquefied gas will inevitably contain liquid (water).
Double-flange capillaries generally do not require heating. If heat tracing is used, there are two reasons: one is the improper selection of silicone oil in the capillary, and the other is water contamination in the process liquid hydrocarbons.
Silicone oil in double-flange designs will freeze, so heat tracing is required
