It was recently reported that the Xinjiang Environmental Monitoring Station has finished preparing the environmental impact assessment report for the completion of the \"Xinjiang Qinghua 5.5 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project (Phase I)\". It is currently being submitted to the China National Environmental Monitoring Center in accordance with the established procedures; once approved by that center, it will be printed to serve as the technical basis for the acceptance process by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The environmental impact assessment monitoring for the completion of Xinjiang Qinghua’s 5.5 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project (Phase I) was carried out by the China National Environmental Monitoring Center. The Xinjiang Provincial Environmental Monitoring Center served as the entity responsible for organizing and implementing this monitoring work, and it initiated such assessments in March 2015. It is understood that this project was built by Xinjiang Qinghua Energy Group Co., Ltd. and is located in the Yidong Industrial Park in Yining County. The total scale of the project construction is 5.5 billion cubic meters, with a total investment of 26.438 billion yuan. Phase 1 covers 1.35 billion cubic meters; the annual coal consumption is 20.5292 million tons, and the annual water consumption is 38.592 million cubic meters.
According to the data above, both coal consumption and water consumption are very high!
