1. It is best to confirm the forward and reverse actions of the regulator before starting up (discuss this further with the process engineers to ensure that the operation of the control valves is appropriate for the process). A set of empirical values can be used for the PID parameters. 2. All other types of coordination tests can be carried out; of course, you need to reset all the parameters you have set before starting up. It is recommended to work on one circuit or one interlock system at a time, and only after proper testing should the manually set parameters be removed. 3. Ensure that the actual operation of each switch and valve at the site matches what is shown on the DCS, as during programming many elements are similar, and programs are often copied with only the tag numbers changed. Before starting up for the first time, the instruments are calibrated individually first, and then each instrument circuit is calibrated together. After the interconnection is completed, interlock tests are carried out together with processes, electrical engineering, and related specialties. At the beginning of operation, the unit is unstable; it is recommended not to switch to automatic mode for now, so the PID parameters should also not be adjusted at this stage – using empirical values is sufficient. If the condition is not met, a default value must be set first, but be sure to change it back later.
