What is the saturation of ion exchange resin?

There are two types related to this: total exchange capacity and working exchange capacity. The total exchange capacity refers to the total number of exchangeable functional groups or ions present in the resin structure; it can be determined through titration experiments or by calculating based on the resin’s structural formula. The working exchange capacity, on the other hand, is the exchange capacity under actual operating conditions, and it depends on those conditions. Is the ratio of the two the saturation? I have doubts; no clear definition was found. It seems that saturation should be the ratio of the capacity already in use to the total available switching capacity.
