Seeking help with issues regarding drum cold slaggers

Hello! Currently, sludge removal in fixed-bed gasifiers is mostly accomplished using sludge skimmers. Switching to drum-type sludge coolers offers the following advantages: 1. The cooled ash can be utilized in various ways, thereby generating economic value; 2. There is a significant water-saving effect, and a certain amount of waste heat can be recovered. The issues that need to be considered are as follows: 1. Sludge discharge pressure – since the sludge cooler is a rotating component with moving and stationary surfaces, gaps inevitably exist there. If the sludge discharge pressure is too high, slight leakage of sludge may occur. This problem can be addressed by installing a negative-pressure air system. 2. Space requirements – it is necessary to take into account the need for components such as expansion joints. Additionally, since the sludge cooler itself is quite large in size, the dimensions of the equipment must be considered, along with the layout of the equipment used for transporting the sludge. A ash bin is located below the gasification slag discharge lock; there is no pressure up to the cold slag machine.

I would also like to ask you: what are the size limitations for ash and slag imposed by the cold slag crusher?

The cold slag crusher is not sensitive to the particle size of ash and slag; a size of less than 200 mm is usually sufficient.

There are several types of internal structures for drum slag coolers, and it is preferable to choose those that are less prone to slag blockage. Personally, I think the membrane wall structure is better.
