How is slurry filtered?

The water contains a large amount of sludge (which cannot be filtered using plate and frame filters), which is a real hassle. Do you have any good ideas on how to separate this sludge?
Could it not work by using several more sedimentation tanks or containers for static sedimentation?
Removing mud is also a major problem; it would be great if it could be filtered.
It is recommended to use horizontal screw discharge sedimentation centrifuges, which offer a sedimentation effect equivalent to that of sedimentation tanks covering several hundred square meters; they operate in a continuous and automated manner and are already widely used in the slurry industry.
It is first thickened using a hydrocyclone, and then solid-liquid separation is carried out with a horizontal centrifuge.
