Question: Which domestic manufacturers have facilities for producing ethylene through ethane cracking? Which companies can provide technology? Please, anyone with information, help out. Thank you. In large domestic ethylene cracking plants, at least one furnace is used for the cracking of light hydrocarbons; it is possible to use either external light hydrocarbons or the light alkanes obtained after the separation of olefins in such plants, including ethane and propane. It’s just that the temperature of this pyrolyzer is relatively high.

What does distillation mean in light hydrocarbon cracking? Light hydrocarbon cracking is a thermal processing method, while distillation is a separation method; these are two completely different processes. By saying that light hydrocarbon cracking occurs during distillation, do you mean that the material undergoing light hydrocarbon cracking is distilled at the same time as it undergoes cracking, or that the cracking takes place while the material is being distilled?
Ethane is cracked to produce ethylene using Sinopec’s CBL gas furnace; this is a technology developed by Sinopec, and the cracking furnace is also proprietary equipment of Sinopec. Specifically, an ethylene cracking furnace is not an ordinary piece of equipment; it all starts with a technology license. Without even that license and design, it’s impossible to talk about purchasing such equipment, let alone acquire it. The products resulting from cracking (the composition of these cracking products is quite complex) must pass through a separation and recovery unit in order to obtain the final product – polymeric-grade ethylene. Of course, foreign patent holders also possess ethylene cracking furnace technology, but it does not have any technical advantages over Sinopec’s CBL technology. In China, there are SL Sinopec Northern furnaces and CBL pyrolysis furnaces; abroad, the commonly used ones are LUMMUS and those from the Dutch company KTI
The SL cracking furnace is a cracking furnace developed through a collaboration between Sinopec and LUMMUS; currently, Sinopec mainly uses the CBL cracking furnace, which was developed independently. A conceptual question: Sinopec is an international patent holder, with operational units for ethylene cracking furnaces both domestically and abroad. Currently, technical parameters such as diene yield, thermal efficiency, and Nox emissions are on par with those of European and American patent holders, while the operation cycle is even superior to theirs.
