Why does water in the feed to the distillation column or in the tower top reflux of the jet fuel hydrogenation unit cause a low flash point of the jet fuel?
Water is carried back with the distillate; due to the high vapor pressure of water, this leads to an increase in the proportion of components with lower boiling points during distillation. This is equivalent to the entrainment process in steam distillation, as a result of which the distillate at the top of the tower becomes lighter and its flash point decreases.
With backflow of water, the temperatures at the top of the tower and along the side lines will decrease to varying degrees
Water has a high specific heat; when it absorbs heat, the temperature of the tower decreases, which in turn shifts the boiling range of aviation fuel downward. The presence of lighter components also leads to a lower flash point
The steam should be carried to the top of the tower, right? Shouldn’t the kerosene product at the bottom of the tower have a higher concentration?

Why do pressure fluctuations occur in the steam tower? If the steam volume is stable, then doesn’t that mean there will be no fluctuations?
