There is foam in the oil sump of the double-stage compressor; the auxiliary oil pump works fine, but there is a lot of foam in the oil sump of the shaft head pump as well as in the crosshead sight glass. . Why? Solve! Urgent!

The shaft head pump operates only when the compressor is running. Generally, the auxiliary oil pump starts automatically; it begins to operate when the oil pressure drops below a certain level!
There is no foam in the auxiliary oil pump, but there is foam in the shaft head pump, right? 1. Is the crankcase ventilation functioning properly? Check whether the breathing holes are blocked. 2. Check for air leakage at the suction inlet – verify whether there are any leaks at the pump’s suction inlet that could cause air to be drawn in.
There is a leak in the oil injection line of the shaft head pump; check it!
We have also encountered such a situation here, with no cause found. After being left to stand, the oil returned to its normal state, and test analyses showed that all key parameters were within normal ranges. Later, I stopped paying attention to it and switched to another device; after that, the appearance of the lubricant was normal again.
It’s simple: there is no foam when the auxiliary pump is turned on, but foam appears from the main oil pump. There must be a leak in the oil pipeline connecting them, and fixing that issue will resolve the problem. I’ve encountered this situation many times before. Be careful and eliminate problems one by one: tighten what needs to be tightened, replace gaskets when necessary, as foam can cause the bearing shells to burn out over time due to prolonged use. Replace the lubricant with fresh oil, and clean the crankcase during the maintenance. I hope this helps you.
