The nickel catalysts used in methane converters are generally made from nickel powder; no carrier is required, as the nickel powder itself serves as the carrier. Such catalysts are generally provided by instrument or chromatography column manufacturers; it is not very convenient to prepare them in small quantities on one’s own. If making it yourself, you can use a mixture of nickel powder, starch, and ammonium carbonate; shape it in a manner similar to kneading dough, dry it, cut it into pieces, then sinter it at high temperatures, and finally carry out reduction.
