Issues regarding the acid aqueous stripping of non-phenicolic compounds

I’m looking at information on an overseas oil refining project. The process of acid water stripping there is referred to as the “No phenolic sour water stripping unit”; in other words, it’s a unit for stripping acidic water that does not contain phenols. So, correspondingly, must there also be a unit for stripping acidic water that does contain phenols? Do refineries generally make such a distinction? How is it determined? O(∩_∩)O Thank you

In other words, the acidic water in coal chemical processing contains more phenols, while it contains less in oil refining?
Is there any difference when stripping acidic water containing phenols?
