For buried pipes with a diameter of 1500–2500 mm, which are similar to water supply pipes and carry fluids similar to water under a pressure of a few kilograms, and which are several hundred meters long, is it necessary in the design to provide access points such as manholes every 100 meters for maintenance purposes? Are there any similar standards that address this situation? Furthermore, for such large-diameter valves (which are not buried but remain above ground), if damage occurs inside them, is it usual to remove them for repair, or do people have to enter the pipe equipped with an oxygen tank or a blower in order to carry out the repairs?
For valves of this size, it’s better to place them on the ground rather than in a valve chamber, as this facilitates maintenance.
