For DN110, two sets of impellers on the mixing shaft need to be installed in different positions; however, there are no positioning holes for bolts on the shaft, so these holes must be welded onto the shaft. Will this cause the shaft to deform or bend?
No, all the blades we design for our customers are welded to the shaft. DN80, DN100, and DN125 have all been used; they feature upper and lower blades, and have been in operation for 5 years so far.
Welding directly on the stirring shaft will inevitably cause local deformation. However, the rotation speed of the stirring shaft is generally not high, so abnormal vibrations caused by deformation are not noticeable. Direct welding is not recommended, as it will cause difficulties when replacing the blades in the future.
This post was last edited by linyiyi on 2016-1-4 09:47. The two paddle blades were swapped around; how were they installed originally? Can’t their positions be exchanged? If they can’t be interchanged, consider adding a keyway or something! If the above factors are not taken into account, and in cases of low speed and a short cantilever shaft, it is possible to find a skilled welder who can weld it together, and it will still be usable!
If it is necessary to weld the stirring shaft to other components, can 45 steel be used for the stirring shaft? Would it be better to use 16Mn or Q235B for easier welding?
The stirrer blade can be removed and used as a shaft sleeve for the reactor; holes can be drilled and screws used to secure it. Welding the stirring shaft directly will cause localized deformation, and those with experience know how to adjust the current level to minimize such deformation
