Our company is a coking plant with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons. The gas processing flow is: coke oven -- gas-liquid separator -- primary cooler -- electrostatic tar collector -- blower -- desulfurization tower. Since the temperature of the gas at the outlet behind the blower is 55 degrees, it enters the desulfurization tower directly, which causes the temperature in the desulfurization system to remain abnormal. Currently, a new pre-cooling tower (with the same structure as the primary cooler) and a turbulent ball tower have been added behind the blower; the gas passes through these towers before entering the desulfurization tower. After the design work by the design institute, it was determined that the heat exchange area of the pre-cooling tower is 1050 m2. Currently, an additional water flow rate of 800 m3/h is required. It is known that the inlet temperature of the cooling tower is 25 degrees, and the outlet temperature is 30 degrees. The gas inlet temperature is 55 degrees. The design temperature for export is 30 degrees. The designed gas flow rate is up to 40,000 cubic meters per hour. Could an expert please calculate for us how large cooling towers, water tanks, circulation pumps, and motors are required by our company, given that the design institute has not provided this information?
There are now companies specialized in the production and sale of cooling towers; you can contact them without having to design them yourself. However, the design of general circulating water systems and the selection of pumps usually depend on the purposes and configurations of the respective enterprise. First, the flow rate and required head must be determined, after which the pump and the corresponding motor can be selected.
Just have the design institute take care of it as a side task; it won’t cost much more~
