Catalytic rich gas compressor–steam turbine unit: regular turning is carried out during shutdown for standby purposes. Can I directly short-circuit the coupling using chain pliers to rotate it? If not, why?
It is not recommended. We used a similar method before, and as a result, the screws at the coupling loosened. That area is quite fragile and easily overlooked during inspections~~~~
1. Shouldn’t your turbine have a manual turning device even if it doesn’t have an automatic one? II. Does the coupling have a guard that needs to be removed every time it is turned?
Is there no dedicated turning device? If not, it is not recommended to turn the shaft
