In the operation of plate towers, the lower limit of the liquid phase load is an important design parameter that ensures the proper functioning of the tower during its design. When the liquid flow rate inside the tower during operation is below the minimum value specified at design time, dry plates can form on the tray surfaces. Additionally, high gas phase loads can lead to flooding in the tower during operation. During tower operation, when the gas phase load is low and the liquid phase load is high, the tower is prone to liquid leakage and flooding; whereas when the liquid phase load is low and the gas phase load is high, the tower is prone to flooding due to foam entrainment
