In petrochemical design, what is the specific relationship between the process piping discipline and the equipment discipline? Is the positioning of equipment in the layout diagrams determined by the process piping, or what does the equipment discipline determine? ? ?
The plan and elevation layout drawings of the equipment are provided by the process or piping department. Then, the process engineering team provides the equipment engineering team with the equipment data sheet; based on these two criteria, the equipment engineering team calculates the weight first and provides the necessary information to the civil engineering and structural engineering teams. Then, equipment documents such as detailed drawings are produced.
The space occupied by the equipment, its processing capacity, the orientation and size of the pipe connections as well as their pressure ratings, the space required for operation and maintenance, and the electrical and instrumentation facilities that need to be connected, etc.
It’s like a horizontal tank; is the position of its foundation supports also determined by the equipment engineering team?
When designing the jar itself, isn’t a support needed? Whether the supports are placed on the structure or on a concrete foundation is a matter for the structural or civil engineering team to decide. :shut up:
The position of the equipment foundation support is actually the installation location. The orientation is determined by the piping, the height is determined by the process, and the foundation is constructed by the civil engineering team.
