The coal consumption per ton of ammonia produced is related to the calorific value of the coal; for lignite, the coal consumption is around 2.5–3.3 tons, with a calorific value of 3000–3700 kcal.
It is usually expressed in terms of comprehensive energy consumption. According to national standards, the advanced level of comprehensive energy consumption for steam conversion using NG as a feedstock is 1010–1077 kg of bituminous coal (including lignite). For enterprises using second-generation gasification technology, the advanced level is 1381–1604 kg. For enterprises using first-generation improved gasification technology with anthracite (including briquetted coal) as a feedstock, the advanced level is 1082–1274 kg. Representative companies include Chongqing Jianfeng, Hualu Hengsheng, and Xinlianxin
