May I ask why the air intake in the middle of the gas buffer tank design has been changed to the top? Are there any issues with the device design?

Gas buffers often have a liquid separation function. From a process perspective, horizontal storage tanks go without saying – their inlets and outlets are located on opposite sides. In the case of vertical tanks, with inlet and outlet at the top, the inlet needs to be inserted to a certain depth.
It’s ready-made equipment; it just needs its usage method to be changed! I’m worried that there might be different calculation methods or results during the design process
No need to separate the liquids! It only serves as a buffer
No matter where the air intake is positioned, there should be a distance between the inlet and outlet to provide a buffering effect.
How to put it? What would happen if there were no distance? Could you provide a detailed analysis?
