Gentlemen: After the main wind supply is cut off in the Northeast region during winter, it cannot be restored immediately; bed sealing is required. What should be done in terms of the sedimentators? Can the temperature be maintained? What if it’s too low, and the steam contains water? I’m most worried about water inside the equipment – can anyone come up with a solution?
The main air supply is cut off; pressure is relieved by using a flare. The pressure is controlled by the disc valve at the top of the distillation tower to maintain the appropriate steam pressure. Condensate containing water is sent to the lower level for discharge.

There will still be dead zones, such as the feed line; after the slide valve is closed, the area above the feed slide valve becomes a dead zone. Since the temperature in that feed line is low, steam will condense there.
