Everyone please share how often they usually clean the crude benzene tanks, tar tanks, etc.
I haven’t cleaned this tar tank since 2003; the sludge has accumulated at the bottom access hatch, which makes things difficult.

For the crude benzene tank, it depends on the operating temperature used. If the temperature at the top of the benzene removal tower is kept within the normal range, there’s no problem. However, if this temperature is too high, the tank will need to be cleaned out within at most two years. As for the tar tank, we haven’t cleaned it specifically either; we cleaned it incidentally when replacing the heater pack
There is very little slag; if there is too much slag, it’s because the mechanical ammonia water clarification tank isn’t functioning properly
