Backwashing of valveless filter for circulating water

Before the initial backwashing of a valveless filter, the flushing intensity should be adjusted to about one-quarter of the diameter of the siphon downpipe for the backwashing process; thereafter, the opening degree should be increased gradually until the specified flushing intensity is reached. It’s stated in the regulations like this; how can the flushing intensity be adjusted?
There is a water baffle under the water surface of the siphon drain pipe, used to adjust the gap between the baffle and the drain pipe opening.
Our company has valveless filters for the circulating water system, but they have never been used. When the circulating water becomes too dirty and its quality does not meet the requirements, the water is discharged; some of the dirty water is removed and fresh water is added. It’s likely that this is done because the cost of water is relatively low.
