It has nothing to do with coal gas. Granulation is carried out in a granulation tower, and the content of biuret in the product is generally 0.9%. Of this, approximately 0.40% is generated in the high-pressure section, about 0.05% occurs within the distillation tower, around 0.20% is produced in the evaporation section, and the remainder is generated in the overhead pipeline. The longer the pipeline to the tower, the higher the biuret concentration.
Conventional granulation techniques certainly cannot achieve this. The Dutch company Stamicarbon has a special process that can achieve this.
In the modified Japanese C method, the dicyandiamide level can be reduced to 0.3, but this process is no longer used in China.
