I think it’s better to choose a furnace type that is more mature and stable. Although the Lurgi furnace has a higher methane content, it seems that this furnace does not operate stably. Let’s share our opinions!
You can choose a BGL furnace. But now, several of the five pilot industrial plants use Lurgi furnaces
If the goal of coal-to-natural gas is for use as fuel gas in combustion, then both its concept and existing processes are backward and obsolete. Of course, no type of furnace can solve the problems of low efficiency and high pollution associated with coal-to-natural gas production.
Furthermore, there are already many gasification technologies available in China; back in the day, when such gasification technologies were introduced, problems related to their adaptation to local conditions arose.
Currently, many projects choose a combination of pulverized coal gasification and powdered coal gasification
If the quality of the coal is good, a coal crusher furnace or a BGL furnace can be chosen; if the coal quality is unstable, coal slurry or dry coal powder should be used, and the returns will be good in the long run
Regardless of the gasification method chosen, the coal quality is the key factor, followed by the need to meet the requirements regarding energy efficiency, water consumption, and coal consumption in coal-to-gas production. You can’t just use whatever furnace you want.
I agree with the view from the 10th floor; the choice of gasification method is determined by the local coal type. A good gasifier is not necessarily suitable for the local coal type.
