B No flow bias or channeling occurs. C The reaction temperature is very uniform throughout. D Production must be stopped in order to replace the catalyst. Answers: ABD. I chose AD; please advise. There are real exam questions from the Daozhuhua exam, and I still want to discuss them in the process forum – does a fixed-bed reactor not experience flow bias or channeling? @tiyiss

This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-6-21 06:42. I have seen the phenomenon of drift; its manifestation is a difference in temperature rise on the two sides. Additionally, when the reactant concentration at the bed inlet is high, the heat of reaction is large and the temperature rises; as the reactant concentration decreases, the heat of reaction keeps falling, and thus those two options are no longer applicable. ““It can be used for a long time” – that’s true; it doesn’t say it can be used “indefinitely”. So the answer is AD.
