I want to conduct a process evaluation for 4mm thick Q345R steel, but I don’t have plates of that thickness. Is it possible to process 12mm thick plates into 4mm thick ones, using the material certificate of the 12mm thick plates instead?
There is no problem with this; it’s just necessary to attach detailed processing drawings and instructions.
The base material should be retested
Why is it necessary to retest the base material? Is there a standard that requires this, or is it based on practical experience? We did not perform re-inspection of the base material when handling the plate thickness in this way.
Thinning in the thickness direction affects the fiber layers of the sheet, and retesting is required to ensure the mechanical properties of the sheet
Isn’t it more convenient to directly machine two forged pipes for butt jointing? ! (Pipe butt joint instead of plate butt joint)
It’s completely possible, but I don’t understand why a 12mm thick plate is needed; using a 6mm thick plate and grinding or planing it down to 4mm would suffice
Machine directly to thinness. . Then record in the file which specification of plate and what material number it is, and that it was routed down to 4mm thickness. . .
There are no such factories; the thinnest ones are only 12 mm thick
