To build a small 3-story steel frame, I’ve looked up some information; the most common column spacing is 6 meters, and the most common span lengths are 6 meters and 7.5 meters. However, the floor height isn’t clear. I would like to ask fellow shipbuilders: 1. What is the floor height of the multi-story steel frames in your factories? 2. Is the height of each layer the same?
I usually use 3.5 meters, with a maximum of 3.7 meters; once again, I needed reactors with a height of 5000 units on both the upper and lower levels, so I designed the height to be 4.1 meters. After installation, it seemed too high and not practical.
Thank you~ Is there a regulation stating that the ceiling height in multi-story factories should not exceed 4m, and if it exceeds 4m, frame beams need to be added for reinforcement?
I’m not sure about this; I’m not specialized in design. We are a small company. I work in technology; there’s no one who specializes in design – I designed all of this myself. Some of the standards aren’t very clear, so I designed it and had the workshop install it themselves. During installation, I’ll check for anything that’s wrong and make the necessary changes. Many issues were found during the design and installation; they will be fixed next time the workshop is set up again.
It is generally around 4.5 meters, depending on the size of the beam and column cross-sections, and is determined by the stress and slenderness ratio.
The ceiling height of industrial buildings depends on the manufacturing process; it is generally between 4 and 7 meters, or even higher
