I wonder what material the exhaust silencers at the outlet of the main fans are made of. Do you check them during maintenance? And after how long do you replace them – when they get damaged or as part of a scheduled replacement?
Most of our silencers are made of carbon steel; they are inspected during annual maintenance, and none of them have been replaced yet
Do you mean in front of the electric butterfly valve and the outlet damping check valve?
For over 20 years, no corrosion damage to the silencer has been observed. It is carbon steel.

During the maintenance in 2013, it was found that the silencer installed on the outlet pipe of the main fan in our workshop had severe rust damage to its steel plates, with some components having come loose due to welding failure. We removed all the components inside the silencer; now there is only an empty tube left. I’d like to ask the experts: Is this approach feasible? Are there any consequences?
Ordinary silencers are made of carbon steel and have a service life of around 5 to 10 years. However, nowadays silencers are made of stainless steel, which gives them a much longer lifespan. I’m a professional in designing silencers, hehe~! ~! QQ2638114053
