Safety helmet is damaged or due for replacement

It’s been several companies – when new employees start working there, they’re given safety helmets, and that’s it. When those helmets get damaged or reach the end of their useful life, no replacements are provided; employees have to pay out of their own pocket. Is this the same situation everywhere?
