A new butane isomerization plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons has been constructed, and the airtightness testing is now almost complete. The company requires that trial production be carried out by driving the equipment now. What issues should I pay more attention to or take precautions against in order to ensure a successful trial run of the equipment?
The main consideration is whether the external environmental temperature has an impact on the instrumentation equipment, especially whether the heating systems used to keep the instruments warm are functioning properly, so as to avoid affecting the instrument parameters
During the first drive, check whether the process is functioning properly and whether there are any blind flanges remaining in the pipes
Recently, a cold wave has hit, so it is necessary to ensure proper insulation of instruments; steam and electric heating systems must be used effectively. Equipment and pipelines should be protected from condensation and freezing, and a steady flow of water can help maintain this protection. For equipment that is out of service, the pipelines must be emptied promptly to prevent freezing and cracking~~
1. Conduct three inspections and four determinations to ensure that the process pipelines meet the requirements. 2. Check the instrumentation equipment to ensure it is functional. For example, lubricating motors, calibrating instruments, removing blind flanges, and so on. 3. It is best to conduct a water transport test run first; only after there are no issues should the operation begin officially. 4. Ensure proper insulation; for materials that tend to crystallize at low temperatures, provide heat tracing. Turn on the heat tracing ahead of feeding the materials to preheat the pipes and prevent blockages. The pipeline for intermittent feeding should be purged when not in use.

For butane isomerization units, it is not clear whether hydrogen production and hydrogenation pretreatment are included in the setup, nor whether there are processes for removing light or heavy fractions. If it is a simple isomerization unit, the difficulties associated with operation in winter are relatively minor; it is sufficient to ensure that there is no water inside the system and that the feed materials do not contain large amounts of water or other factors that could cause freezing.
