It’s a panel with two or three sockets, controlled by a switch; one of the sockets is used for a 1000W electric teapot. Normally, the power is turned on and off using the switch. Is this approach feasible?
It’s possible. Generally, household wall switches have a rated current of 10A, while your electric teapot only requires 5A. However, if your electric teapot doesn’t come with its own switch, then you need to check whether the breaking capacity of your wall switch at 220V is higher than 5A; if not, it cannot be used.
The rated current is 10A, but it broke after only 7-8 days of use. Are there switch panels with 16A or 25A ratings?
As long as the load current can be interrupted, there is no problem.
Rated current and breaking capacity are two different concepts; the ability to carry a current of 10A does not mean that it can break a current of 10A. Does your electric teapot have a switch? If not, then considering a high-current one; if it is available, it means the quality of this switch is poor. Also, it should be taken into account that the actual power of this electric teapot could exceed 1000W
Where can the breaking capacity be seen? Also, are there switches of 16A or 25A available on the market?
If that doesn’t work, just go to the electrical equipment market and buy a 16A circuit breaker
I think it’s possible; sockets are generally designed to handle a capacity of 10A, and the switches are matched to this as well. The maximum current for 1000W is 5A. If a socket of poor quality is turned on and off frequently, it can get damaged.
Buy a Bull socket; it’s of very good quality.
