It snowed the day before yesterday, and it was sunny yesterday and today; the temperature has been extremely low over these three days, with the lowest temperature reaching minus 13°C. This is probably the coldest weather we’ve had in any given year. Northwest winds of force 5 to 7 were also howling fiercely. In production, hydrogen-fired boilers shut down twice in a row: once due to freezing of the pressure transmitter’s pressure guide tube, which caused the pressure reading to exceed the limit and trigger a shutdown, and once due to the remote level gauge on one side suddenly showing zero, which triggered an interlock shutdown. Freezing prevention is a well-known issue; please share your thoughts based on your own experiences.
There is a pre-freezing flush table with ethylene glycol; manual flow control or pressure control can be used – go with manual mode if that’s the case. Of course, it’s necessary to be familiar with the usual valve positions. The biggest concern is failures related to the liquid level and interfaces; to address this, it is necessary to be familiar with the valve positions of the control valves and to take temporary heating measures to ensure that the on-site liquid level gauges provide accurate readings. If the instrument readings stop working, contact the person in charge of the instruments promptly; if the problem can be resolved by supplying steam manually, then go ahead and supply the steam yourself. These past two days, the instrumentation workshop in our factory has been operating on two shifts. These past two days, the lowest temperature we’ve experienced was minus 17 degrees; in over 20 years since I started working here, the lowest temperature I’ve seen has been minus 12 degrees.
The unit is okay, but there’s severe icing at the air inlet of the cooling tower, which affects the water temperature~~It needs to be cleaned manually~~Hehe
Jiangsu stated that it has never encountered such extreme weather conditions; generally, it is sufficient to ensure proper insulation. In extremely cold weather, the bypass system or heating mechanism can be used slightly more.
