Water is injected into the high-pressure air cooler because only in the presence of water can hydrogen sulfide and ammonia react and be removed; or is the purpose of water to remove ammonia? In other words, if there isn’t enough hydrogen sulfide in the system, won’t using water alone be ineffective for removing ammonia? Thank you
To prevent blockages caused by ammonia salt crystallization, water injection can be effective in prevention.
The crystallization temperature of ammonium chloride is 179 degrees, while that of ammonium sulfide is around 130 degrees; therefore, water needs to be added before these crystallization temperatures occur in order to prevent the formation of ammonium salts
