Many heat exchangers can be seen, as well as container flanges made of 304, 316, 304L, and 316L materials; these are designed in accordance with JB/T4700–4703-2000. However, stainless steel materials are not mentioned within the scope of application of the standards; is such a design reasonable? Also, for many flanges of stainless steel containers, the design institutes do not provide drawings; instead, they follow the standards specified in JB/T4700–4703-2000. What do people think about this issue?
It should be possible, but the maximum allowable operating pressure cannot be taken directly from the standards

Whether the design institute has performed the calculations or not, you can only check whether there are any calculation items for flanges in their calculation documents
According to this standard, once the dimensions of the corresponding flange are calculated based on the design parameters and found to be satisfactory, it can be used!
