**Detection of peroxides in furan products

**Current national standards for furan do not specify limits on the amount of oxides, but oxides may be generated during actual production. How can they be measured? Which friend has corporate standards? Send them over for learning!
Prepare a 10% KI aqueous solution, add a small amount of starch, then add **furan. Shake the mixture and let it stand for about 3–5 minutes; if it turns yellow, this indicates the presence of peroxides. The darker the color, the more peroxides are present. If no color change occurs, then there are no peroxides, and the substance can be used with confidence.
I tried this method; it didn’t produce any color, but other methods confirmed the presence of oxides.
