Fires, car accidents, collapses, explosions, falls from heights… The accidents that occurred this week claimed yet more lives. Their deaths serve as a constant reminder that ensuring safe working conditions is a crucial task. Safety hazards are like sleeping lions that could wake up at any moment; we need to remain vigilant, pay attention to what’s around us, and create a safe environment for ourselves and others. 1. An unlicensed vehicle in Hubei crashed into a pond, resulting in 18 deaths; the vehicle was designed to carry 9 people. At around 6:30 a.m. on December 2, near the Yanjiahu Sluice Station in the Gedian Development Zone of Ezhou City (between Jinxiu Xiangjiang and Changshan No.1 Detention Center), a vehicle carrying 20 people fell into the lake. Official reports indicate that the accident resulted in 18 deaths and 2 survivors (including the driver). At present, driver Li has been brought under police control. 2. There is no hope of survival for the 7 miners trapped in the flooded coal mine in Yichun, Jiangxi. Upon investigation, it was found that the coal mine was operating in violation of laws and regulations, and the persons responsible for the accident at the coal mine have been taken into custody by the public security authorities. The underground fire has now been extinguished, and ventilation systems in some areas have begun to be restored; rescue teams have successfully entered the main shaft to conduct inspections. 4. Rear-end collision on the Hunan section of the Hangrui Expressway results in 5 deaths and 6 injuries. At around 8:50 a.m. on November 28, a rear-end collision occurred at kilometer 1136 on the west-to-east section of the Hangrui Expressway in Changsha, Hunan Province; as a result, 5 people lost their lives, 6 were injured, and 20 vehicles were damaged. 5. An off-road vehicle collision occurred in Dali, resulting in 5 deaths. On the evening of November 26, at the intersection of Changfa Village on the road connecting the Yunlang toll station and the Chudai toll station on the Dali-Baise highway, a Great Wall Haval off-road vehicle collided with a truck traveling in the same direction, causing the 5 people inside the Great Wall Haval vehicle to die on the spot. 6. Fire at a delivery facility in Zhuhai kills 3 children. In the early hours of November 26, a fire broke out at a delivery company located on Lianan Road in Gongbei Sub-district, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai, resulting in the death of three children. 7. Collapse of a temporary structure in Taiyuan results in 3 deaths. At 14:37 on November 26, a temporary building located against the outer wall of the Provincial Ancient Books Research Center at the northwest corner of the intersection of Jiefang South Road and Wenyuan Lane in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, suddenly collapsed. Passersby who were in the area were buried under the debris. As a result of thorough search and rescue efforts, four people were found buried at the accident site; two of them died on the spot, while the other two died in the hospital despite attempts to save them. 8. A collision accident occurred in Rudong, Nantong, resulting in 2 deaths and 3 injuries. At around 11:20 on November 28, a collision accident took place on the 4-kilometer section of Route X204 in Rudong, Nantong, leaving 2 people dead and 3 injured. 9. A slope collapse occurred in Jiexiu, Shanxi, resulting in 2 deaths and 4 rescues. Fire breaks out in a residential building in Tongji New Village, Shanghai, resulting in 1 death and 1 injury. At 3:18 a.m. on November 27, a fire broke out in a household on the first floor of No. 360, Tongji New Village, Zhangwu Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai, causing 1 death and 1 injury in that household. 11. A fire broke out beside Ke Yi Lu Station on Beijing Subway Line 9, resulting in 5 cars being destroyed. An fire occurred outside Ke Yi Lu Subway Station, at the west gate of Yi Hai Garden on Ke Yi Lu in Fengtai District, Beijing; 5 cars were set alight, 4 of which were reduced to their frames, while the front part of another white sedan was completely damaged by the fire. 12. Plane carrying Brazilian players crashes, 71 deaths: On November 29, a plane carrying members of the Brazilian Serie A football team Chapecoense crashed near Medellin, Colombia’s second-largest city, resulting in 71 deaths and 6 survivors. On November 30, Colombian media made public a roughly 4-minute recording of the captain’s conversation, revealing that the crash of the Brazilian team \"might have been caused by a lack of fuel,\" with the captain repeatedly asking the airport authorities for an \"emergency landing.\" But later, the plane disappeared from the radar. 13. Tennessee experiences worst fire in a century; 7 dead, 74 injured. According to NBC, the intense wildfire that started in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee has been burning for over a week. To date, it has caused at least 7 deaths, including that of a 70-year-old woman, 74 injuries, and the destruction of more than 700 buildings. This could be the worst wildfire to strike the state in a century. 14 Deaths in a High School Dormitory Fire in Southeastern Turkey A fire broke out in a high school dormitory in Adana province, southeastern Turkey, on the evening of the 29th; as of now, 11 students and 1 dormitory staff member have died, with 22 others injured. 15.
