Today, I saw a double-flange level gauge on the unit. The way it is installed differs from other flange-mounted gauges in that the pressure tapping for positive pressure measurement is located at the bottom of the tank, at the same height as the level gauge on the process glass panel, while the pressure tapping for negative pressure measurement is situated in the pipeline at the top of the tank. Instead of canning it again, why do the experts install it in this way?

It’s possible that the tank wasn’t equipped with mounting flanges for a double-flange level gauge during manufacturing; the idea to install one was added later, and nothing could be done about it.
The effect is the same; it’s all about gas phase pressure. Whether or not a tank is used, there must be an appropriate location for these pressure taps, and all of them should be placed at positions separate from the feed inlet
When designing, pressure taps are definitely included. As for why it is designed this way, many components of the device are also designed in this manner.
It’s not necessarily a design error; it might be related to the manufacturing process. I’ve seen a similar case with a tower before, where the lower flange was on the main body and the upper flange was on the product pipeline. It’s not clear what the reason is, and the upper flange isn’t part of the gas phase system either. Don’t assume right away that the design team forgot to include a flange. . . This possibility is extremely slim
