Yes, it is placed outside the coil with the intention of preventing the high-temperature flame from burning the coil.
It basically doesn’t work; there’s no cooling water in that area, so it’s like burning dry, and the component gets burned through very quickly.
It’s a solution that addresses only the symptoms rather than the root cause, but it’s still a necessary measure. There is extensive research on extending the service life of burners.
I heard that some manufacturers tried welding ring plates in advance, but it didn’t have much effect in the end and the effort was wasted.
Has it not been considered that instead of using a coiled tube design, a water-cooled jacket design could be used?
Currently, the burners used in the water-coal slurry process are almost entirely equipped with water-cooled jackets, in combination with cooling coils. Fly ash is cooled by a pure jacket; whether jacket cooling is fully suitable for water-coal slurry gasification still needs to be tested in practice.
