Our company’s low-temperature methanol washing unit employs the Lurgi process, while the sulfur recovery unit uses the oxygen-enriched Claus process. Currently, the flow rate of sour gas fluctuates significantly, which causes fluctuations in the flow rate of the Claus off-gases (sent to the thermal desulfurization unit), and as a result, the SO2 content at the output of the thermal desulfurization unit also fluctuates greatly. Dear experts, what are the causes of these fluctuations and what are the corresponding countermeasures?
List some possible reasons for troubleshooting: 1. Is the H2S concentration in the feed gas stable? Each time we change the type of coal used in the vaporizer in our facility, the H2S concentration fluctuates to some extent, which in turn causes fluctuations in the flow rate of acidic gases. 2. Is the operating pressure of the thermal regeneration tower stable? We have experienced fluctuations in tower pressure due to variations in the steam pressure of the reboiler; these pressure fluctuations result in changes in the amount of methanol vapor, which in turn leads to fluctuations in the flow rate of acidic gases.
