By consulting tables, the enthalpy of steam at pressures of 6 to 8 kilograms is determined; from this, the heat content per ton of steam is calculated. It is then determined how many kilograms of coal are required to produce such an amount of heat (heat losses in the boiler must be taken into account, that is, the boiler’s thermal efficiency is considered).
Based on 7 kilograms, the enthalpy of saturated steam at 7 kilograms is 2771.4. 2771.4*1000/4600*0.85=708.8
