During the maintenance of the low-pressure ammonia pipes, emergency water was used to cool down the collectors to prevent excessive temperatures; high-pressure ammonia was also introduced into some of the collectors for cleaning purposes. When the temperature in the collectors reached 200 degrees and the pressure was around 600–700 pascals, blue smoke began to emerge from the chimneys. May I ask what the reason is? Thank you!

There are some leaks, but not many; they are relatively minor and located at the viewing holes on the top of the furnace.
It only occurs during maintenance when ammonia water is stopped; there is no smoking under normal conditions. I wonder why smoke is produced when stopping the ammonia solution.
Exhaust gases contain a certain amount of nitrogen oxides (including nitric oxide and peroxynitrous oxide). When these mix with other gases in the exhaust gases, such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide, and are exposed to sunlight and ultraviolet rays, they undergo a series of chemical reactions that result in the formation of a light blue smoke – what is known as \"photochemical smog\". As the levels of nitrogen and other nitrogen-containing compounds in the gas increase, the amount of nitrogen oxides produced during combustion also increases; under the influence of sunlight and ultraviolet rays, blue smoke emanating from the chimney can be clearly seen. The treatment of blue smoke is quite complex; it requires control at various stages such as coal blending, coke oven heating, gas purification, and recovery, in order to reduce the levels of ammonia and other nitrogen-containing compounds in the gas, as well as to lower the amount of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gases, thereby eliminating blue smoke.
