May I ask everyone: what is the chlorine content in hydrogenated gasoline, what level should it be kept at? What is the acceptable chlorine content in the raw gasoline used, and what are the mechanisms/causes for this control? Thank you
Chlorine levels should be kept below 10 ppm; generally, a dechlorinating agent is needed
Control raw material chloride ions; I’m not sure if there are any chlorine scavengers available. A high chloride ion content, on the one hand, leads to salt formation which affects the pressure difference and causes pipe blockages; on the other hand, chloride ions corrode stainless steel.
Dechlorination produces hydrogen chloride, which causes severe corrosion of the pipelines; moreover, chlorine itself causes significant corrosion to the pipelines in the hydrogenation section (which are mostly made of stainless steel)
Prevent salt buildup in high-pressure heat exchangers and avoid excessive pressure drops in the reaction system; Prevent corrosion of high-pressure air coolers and similar equipment ;
1. Chloride ions react with hydrogen to produce hydrogen chloride, while nitrogen-containing compounds react with hydrogen to yield ammonia. These two products react with each other to form ammonium chloride, which is a type of ammonium salt; it can clog heat exchangers and affect production. 2. Chloride ions cause severe corrosion of stainless steel. Based on the above two points, hydrogenation units require that the chloride ion content in the hydrogenation feedstock not exceed 10 ppm
